The role of health professionals in (re) building trust with consumers about food
In today’s society, there is often great distance between consumers and the source of their food. Much of our food comes pre-packaged or is supplied by major corporations. We often rely on third-party information about our food and the systems that produce it.
When an incident occurs that affects our food - for example food contaminated with bacteria - that lack of understanding can cause us to lose trust in the systems we have in place.
Flinders University Research Fellow Dr Annabelle Wilson will use a Flinders Foundation Health Seed Grant to assess the roles that health professionals play in rebuilding consumers’ trust in the food system after they have been involved in a food incident.
Through interviews with health professionals, Dr Wilson and her team will investigate the aftermath of a hypothetical food incident to help us better understand how health professionals can help rebuild trust in our food system.
This research is made possible thanks to a generous supporter and generous donations from the community.
