Helping kids be kids
Imagine being a child in hospital. Scared, confused, and in pain. Missing their home, their friends, their toys. Imagine being a parent of a sick child. Worried, helpless and exhausted. Wishing they could take away their child’s pain, their fears, and their tears.
Flinders Foundation, in collaboration with the community and our dedicated partners, makes sure every child’s journey at Flinders is met with comfort, care and a sprinkle of magic.
With your help, we create spaces where kids can just be kids, where the weight of illness and fear temporarily lifts, replaced by the laughter and wonderment that childhood should be about.
Brighter beginnings
At Flinders Medical Centre’s paediatric clinics, children attend close to 25,000 medical appointments each year. And around 5,000 will be admitted to the Children’s Ward for minor injuries and illnesses, right through to life-threatening conditions.
No matter how or why they got here, there’s no doubt that hospitals can be daunting for little ones and equally distressing for their parents.
And that’s where we come in. By raising funds for child-friendly equipment, spaces and initiatives, we help turn those anxious moments into heartwarming memories.
Giving wings to dreams
Every donation brings us closer to spreading more smiles, from the ward to the Emergency Department (ED) and all the places between. Here’s where your help goes.
We all know hospitals can be scary places for kids, and their parents too. We’re lending a hand to minimise the anxiety that comes with a visit to the Paediatric ED by supporting the latest technology and improving the experience for patients, and their families.
Together with the support of the community, we brighten the days of patients in the Paediatric Ward with fun experiences and equipment to help make a hospital stay a little bit easier for the whole family.
We’re redeveloping the Child Protection Service at Flinders Medical Centre. This new environment will be welcoming and safe, with purpose-built spaces for children to work with child protection staff and begin the road to healing.
Each year, more than 1,400 premature babies are cared for in the Flinders Medical Centre Neonatal Unit. From life-saving equipment for the sickest babies to thoughtful initiatives for parents, your generosity ensures these tiny fighters are given the best start to life.
