Flinders Foundation appoints new Board Chair to lead next chapter of exceptional health impact
The appointment was confirmed on 30 July 2026 and marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for one of South Australia's leading health and medical research charities.
Mr Snowdon joins the Foundation at an important time, as it continues to expand its impact across patient care, medical research and healthcare innovation throughout southern Adelaide and beyond.
For almost 50 years, Flinders Foundation has worked alongside its generous community of supporters to invest more than $75 million into life-changing medical research, world-class medical equipment, and patient care initiatives. In the last calendar year alone, the Foundation contributed more than $2.1 million, including $1.44 million to health and medical research and $700,000 to patient care initiatives.
Mr Snowdon said he was honoured to lead an organisation with such a proud legacy and meaningful purpose.
"Flinders Foundation has built an outstanding reputation for bringing the community together to fund exceptional healthcare, world-class research and innovation that directly benefits patients and their families," Mr Snowdon said.

Outgoing Interim Chair Associate Professor Michael Michael said the Board was delighted to appoint a leader whose values closely align with the Foundation's mission.

"For five decades, our supporters have helped us invest more than $75 million into medical research, patient care and healthcare innovation, creating better outcomes for South Australians and communities beyond.
"That impact can be seen right across the Flinders precinct. From helping fund the $5 million Research Laboratory Wing at Flinders Medical Centre in our early years, to establishing the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer as South Australia's first integrated cancer centre, and most recently delivering the purpose-built Child Safety and Wellbeing Health Service, our community has helped create places where world-class care, research and innovation thrive for generations to come.
"Rob understands the importance of bringing people together around a shared purpose. His strategic leadership, governance experience, integrity, and genuine commitment to community will help guide the Foundation as we continue to grow our impact."
Mr Snowdon brings extensive governance and community leadership experience and has a longstanding commitment to organisations that create meaningful social impact.
Alongside his appointment as Chair of Flinders Foundation, he serves as Director (previously Chair) of the Specialised Assistance School for Youth, Chair of Power Community Limited (the charitable arm of Port Adelaide Football Club) and previously a Director of the Paraplegic & Quadriplegic Association of SA.
As Flinders Foundation celebrates its 50th anniversary, it remains committed to connecting the community with world-leading healthcare, funding groundbreaking research and ensuring every patient has access to exceptional care when they need it most.
