Community Achievement Awards 2019

Coorong District Council's Healthy Highways Program was announced as the winner of the Flinders Foundation Leadership and Innovation in Health Award at the 2018 South Australian Community Achievement Awards.

The Coorong District Council, together with their Obesity Prevention and Lifestyle team created the Healthy Highways program to provide better food choices for travellers along the Coorong. Each participating outlet serves nourishing meals, offers healthy drink options and where possible, cooks with local fresh produce.

The program won the award from a strong field of 280 nominations, including finalists Jesse Hardy's ‘Call The Doctor’ and the Medical Device Partnering Program of Tonsley.

The South Australian Community Achievement Awards began in 2010, with the intention of recognising individuals, organisations and groups who are making a difference within their local communities and state. These awards provide the opportunity to acknowledge those who work tirelessly to develop and improve in their chosen field of endeavour.
