Doggy visitors bring joy, thanks to you
Now thanks to you, they’ve also become a welcome source of comfort, connection and conversation for elderly patients.
Your generosity has provided funding for three Delta Therapy Dogs to regularly visit the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) wards at Noarlunga and the Repat Health Precinct.
Staff say the dogs provide a positive distraction for many patients, often making them calmer and more responsive.
The visits can also bring back memories of their own pets, with patients opening up to chat as they pat the pups and offer them treats.
I’ve seen happy tears spring to patients’ eyes when Dusty comes in.
Delta Therapy Dogs volunteer, LisaÂ
The staff appreciate Dusty’s visits too, providing a happy and welcome distraction, especially after a long shift or busy day.
As for Dusty, Lisa says he always looks very happy and loves getting his treats from the patients!
